            Synopsis
Butch O’Neal is a fighter by nature. A hard living ex-homicide cop, he’s the only human ever to be allowed in the inner circle of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. And he wants to go even deeper into the vampire world – to engage in the turf war with the lesser. He’s got nothing to lose. His heart belongs to a female vampire, an aristocratic beauty who’s way out of his league. If he can’t have her, then at least he can fight side by side with the brothers....

Fate curses him with the very thing he wants. When Butch sacrifices himself to save a civilian vampire from the slayers, he falls prey to the darkest force in the war. Left for dead, found by a miracle, the Brotherhood calls on Marissa to bring him back, though even her love may not be enough to save him...

     my Thoughts (review)
Man, isn’t this a book in the series that we have been waiting for....?! Yeah, it is. I know you feel it too.

Butch the ever loving human of the brotherhood, though frustrated both about the fact that he can’t fight with the brotherhood nor can he be with the woman he’s been craving since the moment he set eyes on her. And worse was the kiss that keeps playing in his head. But despite all that he wouldn’t wish anything else. He loves where he is in life.

When Butch is taken by a bunch of lessens it leaves V with a screw or two loose and a brotherhood with no idea where he is or what the hell’s been happening to him.

Finding Butch, near death and infected with evil they put him in a contamination room one where until V tells her Marissa, who runs to Butch’s side even when she’s still unsure if he likes her.

This one is all about the relationships between Butch and V and Butch and Marissa. But mostly it’s about the male female deal and the fact that they are both in the dark and both feel the same way.

It’s a nice book, with there being very little back story—mostly because we already know Butch and Marissa doesn’t really have that much to say. Only that she’s never been touched by another and Butch is more than happy to help her out in that fact even if she’s a little reluctant to beginning with.

Though nothing works out well between the pair and most of the book they are having problems for one reason of another until, finally, right at the end, they seem to get it right.

I liked this book most for V and Butch’s relationship (because I’m a fan of V even if I wouldn’t really like him in life, asses and me don’t really mix, but he’s a great character to get to know, mostly I think because it’s so hard to get to know him), they are great together and even more so for the fact that you can see the ease in which it happens between them, something that isn’t easy for V.
