Okay so here’s a little Excerpt of the Lakehouse
Security #6. It’s currently untitled. This is Mikkel and Damon’s love story. It
took me a while to get a good working plot but once I figured out the
characters I feel so much better about it. It’s not like pulling teeth anymore
just to get each word out.
(Please note that this is an unedited Excerpt)
WIP Excerpt
If Damon were to guess than he would say
Mikkel was probably repulsed by Damon’s profession. Starring in porn didn’t
exact win him relationship status and he had been alright with that in the
past. He hadn’t wanted a relationship before he met Mikkel. He never met anyone
he really cared about.
He always told himself that if he ever met
someone he thought he could fall in love with than he’d quit. He wanted
monogamy with someone someday. Damon looked at the door Mikkel had walked
through a half hour ago. Looks like that wasn’t going to be any day soon.
He sighed.
“Man, you have it bad for Mikkel,” Aaron
said with wide-eyes and a wicked smile.
“Don’t tell him, okay,” Damon pleaded with
Aaton.
“You know I won’t say anything.” Aaron
looked at him then. “Do you think you’ll go back to your old life after this is
all finished?”
“You mean back to my apartment? I don’t
know. No. Isn’t that like pretending this whole thing never happened?” He had
never been very good at pretending his problems away. He wasn’t afraid to make
big changes in his life if he had too. He had done it before when his parents
kicked him out for being gay. He never looked back after he left, not even when
life got harder than he wanted it to and he had to stay at homeless shelters to
survive. He even legally changed his name just too fully embrace the life he
had, instead of dwell on what he left behind.
Never once had he tried to get into contact
with his parents or his sister, who was nearly thirteen years old now. He
thought about his sister from time to time, like now when he need someone to be
there for him. He’d especially need someone when Mikkel found out how much he
fucked up and started hating him.
“You should just stay here after this is
over.”
Damon let out a self-deprecating laugh.
“Yeah right. You guys aren’t going to want me hanging around here? Trust me.
I’ll wear out my welcoming real fucking quick.” Especially, after Mikkel sees
the texts Samuel keeps sending. Once they all find out Damon made Mikkel a
target of Samuel’s none of them will want him around ever again.
Maybe it was his destiny to spend his life
alone. He wasn’t just talking about romantic love either. Really he could go
his whole life without that. No, he was talking about being without family and
friends. He definitely didn’t have family, they kicked him out a long time ago.
And his friends were all superficial, only wanting one thing because he was a star
in some circles. He did porn films on the internet, but still that made him
mildly famous to some people.
“What do you mean? It’s really great having
you around,” Aaron said with a perplexed look on his face. “I’d really miss you
if you left. You’re part of our little family.”
“You don’t want me in your family.” Damon
stood up then, keeping his back to Aaron so he wouldn’t see the look of under
despair on his face.
“Stop that right now. You’re not being fair
to us or to yourself.”
Just then the door to Aiden’s office opened
and people started slowly trickling out of the room. Damon backed up when
Mikkel started walking towards him with his hand out as if he expected Damon to
put something in his open palm.
“Give me your phone,” Mikkel said. He had
that stoic look on his face, the one that said he loathed the ground Damon
walked on.
Damon shook his head and buried his hands
in the pockets of his jeans. His right hand curled around his phone as if
protecting it from Mikkel.
“Now, Damon.”
“Please, don’t hate me.” Damon’s hands
shook as he slowly withdrew his hand from his pocket. He placed his phone in
Mikkel’s open palm and let go.
“I don’t hate you,” Mikkel said but the
harshness of this statement said otherwise. Damon guessed he had nothing to
lose by giving him the phone then.
Damon watched as Mikkel handed the phone
over to Danny, without even looking at his texts. He left the room after that,
his shoulders up around his ears and his body tense.
