Synopsis
As
a kid, Monkey D. Luffy vowed to become King of the Pirates and find the
legendary treasure called the “One Piece.” The enchanted Gum-Gum Fruit has
given Luffy the power to stretch like rubber—and his new crewmate, the infamous
pirate hunter Roronoa Zolo, strikes fear into the hearts of other buccaneers!
But what chance does one rubber guy stand against Nami, a thief so tough she
specializes in robbing pirates...or Captain Buggy, a fiendish pirate lord whose
weird, clownish appearance conceals even weirder powers? It’s pirate vs. pirate
in the second swashbuckling volume of One Piece!
Catch up....It
is the Golden Age of Piracy. Countless pirates sail the seas, searching for
legendary pirate Gold Roger’s mysterious treasure, the “One Piece.” Among them
is Monkey D. Luffy, who grew up listening to the wild tales of buccaneer “Red-Haired”
Shanks and dreaming of becoming a pirate himself. Having eaten the fruit of the
Gum-Gum Tree, Luff has the bizarre power to stretch like rubber—at the cost of
being unable to swim!
Now Luffy’s quest to become the King
of Pirates has begun. He’s found in unlikely friend and crewmate in the
fearsome pirate hunter Zolo. But Luff and Zolo are separate Captian Buggy and
his gang. Meanwhile, Luffy meets Nami the thief, who specializes in robbing
pirates. With an untrustworthy thief at his side and enraged pirates on his
tail, Luffy’s career in the height seas is already in big trouble. And he’s
about to learn the terrible secret of Captain Bugg’s success....
My thoughts....shit
its good! Really, we come into this book with a little bit of a who? What? and explanation
that shows why he became the way he is—basically he also ate the Devil’s fruit
and has abilities, thought they aren’t like Luff’s.
This
one is mostly about Luffy’s battle with the Captain’s number 2 and Zolo with
his 3rd. Or are they actually the other way around? I’m not sure and
can’t be bothered to flip through the pages until I find the right answer—so bitch
if you have to, I don’t care.
This
one we learn a little more about Nami, though not all about her, but more
importantly we find ourselves with a navigator, because that’s what Luffy wants
her to be and that’s what he will make her be. He’s kinda one tacked that way.
It’s
a battle with a pirate and a small town that end up loving them even though
they aren’t meant to because, well, there pirates—even if all of Luffy’s crew
is against the idea that they are
pirates. Funny. Still, it’s great, great, great!!!!
When we continues.... “....Red
Hair!?”
To
be continued in ONE PIECE, Vol 3!
Series
Vol 1, [tb] and
58 others.
