Synopsis
WATER SEVEN Part 9
As
a child, monkey D. Luffy dreamed of becoming King of the Pirates. But his life
changed when he accidentally gained the power to stretch like rubber...at the
cost of never being able to swim again! Years later, Luffy sets off in search
of the “One Piece,” said to be the greatest treasure in the world....
GEAR
Hankering
for a fight, Luffy’s got a jump start on the battle to rescue Robin and Franky
before they’re sentenced by the Navy’s court at Enies Lobby. Now that the Straw
Hats and the Franky Family have banded together, the World Government is in for
an epic battle. But did the Navy deceive Robin into sacrificing herself in
order to trap the Straw Hats?
Catch up....
Monkey D. Luffy started out as just a kid with a dream—and that dream was to
become the greatest pirate in history! Stirred by the tales of pirate
“Red-Haired” Shank, Luffy vowed to become a pirate himself. That was before the
enchanted Devil Fruit gave Luffy the power to stretch like rubber, at the cost
of being unable to swim—a serious handicap for an aspiring sea dog. Undeterred,
Luffy sat out to sea and recruited a couple of crewmates: master swordsman Zolo
and treasure-hunting thief Nami and lying sharp-shooter Usopp, and Sanji, the
high-kicking chef; Chopper, the walkin’ talkin’ reindeer doctor: and the
mysterious archaeologist Robin.
After
many adventures, the Straw Hats’ ship, the Merry
Go, is less than seaworthy. In order to get her repaired, they head to
Water Seven, home of the best shipwrights. Furious at Luffy’s decision to get a
new ship instead, Usopp leaves the crew, and then Robin in linked to an
assassination attempt on Major Iceberg and hauled off to enies Lobby, the
judicial island. To rescue Robin, Luffy joins with the Galley-La Company and
the Franky Family and takes up pursuit in a defective Sea Train!
In
the lead train, Sanji succeeds in finding Usopp and Franky and eventually
reaches Robin. However, she and Franky end up back in the enemy’s hands and are
taken to Enies Lobby. Sanji joins Luffy and the others, and they make plans to
storm the island together. But Luffy once again ends up going it alone!
[Mind what I write
below is just a quick shift threw what is going on in the volume. This in no
way has all there is in it, nor am I going to tell you the full story line,
just the basic so that you can follow along with me. Really, if you are finding
this interesting then you really
should read this series....really, either way, read it! Honestly it’s awesome,
with great storylines and characters that you will fall in love with faster
than you could blink]
What happens....vol 40; were inside Enies Lobby, and Luffy
is screaming ahead taking out all the low lying navy dudes while the Franky
family and others are taking down the Giants that are at the front gate to move
onto the next part—the dogs.
The
rest of the crew fly into the scene in the train and head towards Luffy taking
out all they can along the way. While Usopp is makes friends with the giants.
Luffy
starts fighting one of the CP9 and goes up a power level (that has the
funniest consequences),
Declaration of War, vol
41; Luffy wins and they all end out of the top of the
building opposite of which Robin and Franky are staying at.
Robin
calls her wish to live and Franky burns the one thing the navy really wants. And with that gone,
Franky is no use, but in joining the Straw Hats and starting the fight they
have all been gearing for.
Pirates vs. CP9, vol 42;
with the fight starting down below the captain (head dude) of the group takes
Robin and heads to the gates (which if you go through you are never coming back
from) so it’s a rush to get to robin—they all spilt up. Luffy heading straight for
Robin and the big dog Rob Lucci.
Meanwhile
they learn that they must fight all of CP9 to gain a key each are holding to
the cuffs on Robin (the cuff’s are made from—well, the same thing the bars
where in Alabasta—they drain the power of Devil Fruit people).
So,
Franky gets Fukurô a big dude with a zipper for his mouth. Usopp gets Jabra who
turns into a wolf. Zolo gets Kaku who recently (like in the last vol, or one before
that) ate the Devil Fruit and can now turn into a giraffe (and it’s funny,
since Zolo and Usopp get place together with their dude and then they manage to
get attached together by the cuff like Robin has on. Really, it’s hilarious,
both the way they go one with him being a giraffe & Usopp and Zolo being
attached together). Sanji has a first try at Kalifa but loses so Nami
steps in to find that she too has recently eaten the Devil Fruit and its
bubbles, she had the ability to rub a person clean—basically she can make them not
be able to move (what she did to Sanji).
Chopper
takes on Kumadori, he’s got lots of hair that can move like an octopus—but it’s
not for a key, being that Nami took it off before the fight really got started.
Chopper puts him in the fridge. And it ends up being Franky, Chopper vs. the
zipper man and the hair man...which get Chopper using too much of his power and
turning him into....uh, monster who can’t think only kill.
By
the end, Luffy finally makes it to Lucci, pigeon dude.
Legend of a Hero, vol
43; Franky deals with Chopper, mostly because none of the
crew want to hurt him. Nami finishes off bubble girl. Zolo uses Usopp as a sword
( mention
this because it’s funny), but they get free and Zolo takes on the
giraffe, and Sanji the wolf—but that’s not all that hard, being that Sanji isn’t
a fool as the wolf wished to think him.
They
all win their fights, but Luffy, and though Franky’s in the lead they all head
for to get Robin free.
Let’s Go Back, vol 44;
the navy are on the way to blow the island to smithereens (which you can
learn more about if you read the series), Franky finds Robin, getting
her free and them both onto a ship that was there to take her away—the other
get onto the same ship by the water, and Luffy is still fighting Pigeon guy.
The
navy attacks but they all want Robin alive and so they go easy on where she’s
standing but not so on the rest of the island.
Luffy
wins finally! And we are pushed onto the ocean, only to be saved by the unseaworthy
Merry Go. But still, it’s a miracle
as always that they get out of the navy midfield, and as they come up to
Iceburg’s ship Merry Go falls apart. Say a tearful (really, it’s upsetting)
farewell to the ship we’ve had from the beginning, the Merry Go.
You have my Sympathies,
vol 45; so it’s recovery time! Luffy is eating,
while sleeping; Usopp is trying to come up with ways to get back on the ship
(he doesn’t want to apologise) and everyone else is mulling around waiting for
the time that they can leave.
Franky
is building them a ship, and it’s all a party—which includes meeting Luffy’s
grandpa, who happens to be high in the Navy, he brings with him Koby and that
other guy...uh...! We also find out who Luffy’s dad is.
They
steal Franky’s trunks to make him come with them because he has a bounty on his
head now, along with everyone of the Straw Hat crew (Luffy, Zolo and Robin’s
just went up) Usopp opoligise’s and the crew take him back.
And
then it’s off to the next island, with a BANG!
When we continues....when the Straw Hats
encounter a mysterious barrel on the open sea, little do they know that it’s a
trap! Steered toward Thriller Bark, and rational sailor would think twice
before going ashore on an island full of zombies. But with Luffy at the helm,
the Straw Hats are in for a scare as they become the targets of the dreaded Gecko
Moria!
