Despite her emotional fatigue, Raven finds herself connecting psychically to another wounded individual somewhere close by.

Prince Mikhail Dubrinsky is the leader of his people but, as his ancient Carpathian race grows ever closer to extinction, he is close to giving in to the heavy weight of loneliness and despair.

Then a female voice enters his mind and tries to console him. Intrigued human female. From the moment their minds touch, Raven and Mikhail form a connection.

But there are those who incorrectly view all Carpathians as vampires, and are determined to give their extinction a helping hand...

      my Thoughts (review)
what I’ve gotten is that this series is about a group of vampires, though they aren’t really the ones of old ledgens. These ones are more with the earth, more animal, yes, powerful, yes, and can do lots of things that vampires are meant to. But still they aren’t.

Anyway, so the breed is drying out, and all the males are have lost their feelings long ago, needing a life mate to connect them back up again. This series is about them all finding that said mate, and of course battling against human vampire hunters and the ones that turn into the vampires that everyone wants to see.

That being said, there Prince (this book) is suffering under the strain of not having his mate, but wait!? there she is, in his mind. and now, yeah, you got it, he’s obsessed.

Most of this book is done in being that he’s a vampire, and she doesn’t know it. Honestly it’s confusing and even after he drinks her blood and everything she still doesn’t get it. Not until near the end when all is been revealed and she’s then put in more danger and... Well, yeah, you can sorta see that it didn’t interest me. Give me a book that doesn’t start off the same way. A lonely prince and his fated mate. I understand that it’s the way things are, what the public wants and it’s not Feehan’s fault, mostly because the ones that I have read where written after hers, but still....

I like her vampires though, like the hunters, and the world. Liked that the males went crazy if they didn’t have their female. I get that as a great series especially since there romances, what’s not to get, torment and on the edge of crazy only to find a woman that changes them completely. Most women’s dream. Not really mine, which is probably why I couldn’t get into the series or more so I just didn’t care all that much for it.

It was still a good book, even if it confused me more than anything.

Series
[tb], Dark Desire, Dark Gold, Dark Magic, Dark Challenge, Dark Fire, Dark Legend.... (the list goes on for there are 20 books to count in this series)
