Cat: paranormal fiction (mystery)
Format: paperback (lar); 325 pp w/ 17 chapters
Age Range: Adults

            Synopsis
Sookie Stackhouse is a cocktail waitress in Bon Temps, Louisiana. It’s a job which has its own challenges, but now the vampires and the shapeshifters are finally ‘out’, you’d think the supernaturals would get on with each other. But nothing is that simple in Bon Temps!

...and Sookie has a knack for being in trouble’s way; not least when she witnesses the firebombing of Merlotte’s, the bar where she works. Since Sam Merlotte is known to be two-natured, suspicion immediately falls on the anti-shifters in the area. Sookie suspects otherwise, but before she can investigate something else – something even more dangerous – comes up.

Sookie’s lover Eric Northman and his ‘child’ Pam are plotting something in secret. Whatever it is, they seem determined to keep Sookie out of it; almost as determined as Sookie is to find out what’s going on. She can’t sit on the sidelines when both her work and her love life are under threat – but as their plans gradually become clear Sookie finds the situation is deadlier than she could ever have imagined.

Author: Adam Rex
Genre: paranormal fiction
Format: paperback (mid); 324pp w/ 37 chapters

Then he meets the new Indian exchange student and falls for her—hard. Yeah, he wants to bite her, but he also wants to prove himself to her. But like the laws of life, love, and high school, the laws of vampire existence are complicated—it’s not as easy as studying Dracula. Especially when the star of Vampire Hunters is hot on your trail in an attempt to boost ratings....

Searing, hilarious, and always unexpected, FAT VAMPIRE is a satirical tour de force from one of the most original writers of fiction today.

Starting paragraph
“So...” Jo said a little reluctantly, he didn’t want to be the person to do this to her, even though he was pissed. Yet, he knew, it wasn’t her fault, and if she held some sorta of humanity to her brain, getting Addy killed wasn’t going to go down well, and Jo was sick of people hurting because of stupidly and wanting to believe in something that just wasn’t true, and more so when it was thrown in their faces time and time again.

REVIEW, Rough, Raw, and Ready

Torn between the love he has....and the love he’s always wanted.

    Prod dets
Rough, Raw, and Ready
Series: Rough Riders, book 5
Pub:  2009, Samhain publishing
Author: Lorelei James
Genre: western romance
Format: paperback (lar); 278pp w/ 31 chapters
Whose: Chassie, Trevor & Edgard
Age Range: adult

            Synopsis
Chassie West Glanzer hasn’t been a stranger to drama and tragedy. A year of wedded bliss to sexy-as-sin cowboy Trevor Glanzer has brought her the happiness and contentment she never thought she’d find, and mellowed Trevor’s rodeo wanderlust. The Trevor’s old roping partner ambles up the driveway—and Chassie’s life changes drastically.

Trevor never expected to see Edgard Mancuso again, after it became clear he couldn’t be the man Edgard needed. Now Edgard is back from Brazil to sort out their tangles past, and Trevor is plagued with feelings he thought he’d buried over three years ago. Although Trevor is hat-over-bootheels in love with his sweet, feisty wife, the sense his life is missing a piece has always gnawed at him.

Chassie’s shock that Edgard and Trevor were once lovers turns to fear of losing her husband. Or worse, fear that Trevor will stay with her only out of a sense of duty. Yet as the three of them spend time together, the sins of the past blur and fade, leaving raw emotion—and unbridled passion.

Passion that could heal...or cause irreparable damage to their future.

Warning: this book contains unbelievably explicit sex, including multiple cowboy/cowgirl/cowboy ménage scenes, juicy, hot, male on male action, a bucketful of politically incorrect situations and true Western ideology.

REVIEW, The Harlequin

They will play with us, then destroy us...they are what we fear in the dark

    Prod dets
The Harlequin
Series: Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, book 15
Pub: 2007, Headline
Author: Laurell K. Hamilton
Cat: paranormal fiction
Format: paperback (mid); 481 pp w/ 47 chapters
Age Range: adult

            Synopsis
The first warning is unexpected, calculated. The second warning is a gift: a plain white mask, carefully wrapped. But white is good—white means we are only being watched.

It seems the power that connects me, Anita Blake, with Jean-Claude, Vampire Master of the City, and Richard, leader of the werewolves, is attracting very unwelcome attention—from creatures so feared no vampire will willingly speak their name. They are known as the Harlequin, and they have the authority to pass judgement upon me.

It is forbidden to speak of the Harlequin unless you’ve been contracted. And to be contracted is to face a sentence of death.

REVIEW, Heaven Sent

   Prod dets
Heaven Sent: includes Heaven and Purgatory
Series: Heaven Sent, book 1 & 2
Pub:  2006, Looseld
Author: Jet Mykles
Genre: erotic romance
Format: paperback (mid); 310pp
Whose: Tyler & Johnnie / Lucas & Reese
Age Range: adult

        Synopsis
HEAVEN
Desperate to save his family’s hotel, Tyler sinks his hopes and what’s left of his money into a new venture: a nightclub at the hotel. Everything rides on The White Room’s success—without it the hotel will go under. Tyler’s nervous, but Lady Luck smiles on him, in the form of mega-popular rock band Heaven Sent signing on to play at the club.
Tyler’s a huge fan of the group, but even so, he’s not prepared at all to come face-to-face with the painfully gorgeous lead-singer, Johnnie Heaven. But, the bomb that goes off in his brain can’t be lust. Sure, Johnnie’s probably the most beautiful person he’s ever seen, but Tyler is straight. It has to be a misguided form of hero worship that he’s feeling—has to.
When Johnnie learns that Tyler shares his obsession with video games, he invites Tyler to his room to play. Of course, Tyler jumps at the chance. Who wouldn’t snap up the opportunity to spend time with his idol? He and Johnnie have a great time together, but Tyler soon discovers that Johnnie aims to introduce Tyler to a whole new level of game play.

PURGATORY
Tall and sleek with gorgeous red hair and deep, dark eyes to drown in, it’s no wonder that famous bass player, Lucas Sloane, stars in so many dewy-eyed teenager’s dreams.
Reese used to be one of those teens—back when Heaven Sent was the house band for the local club, Purgatory. Back then, it was easy to get to know Luc, even become friends with him. But he took it too far, worked up the courage to confess his love to Luc—only to be soundly rejected.
Now, six years later, Luc’s back in town for a visit and more gorgeous than ever. Much to Rees’s surprise, Luc not only apologizes for the way he treated Reese, he also comes onto him! Seems Luc’s discovered the pleasure of being with a man and wants to know what it’s be like between the two of them.
But Reese can’t. He just can’t. He lives the straight and narrow. He teaches high school math. He’s got a girlfriend. A normal life. He can’t be gay. Of course, it’s really very hard to deny the man who defines beautiful to Reese’s artistic mind.
